Board of Directors

BC Assessment is a publicly funded provincial Crown corporation constituted under the Assessment Act and governed by a Board of Directors. Anna Nyarady
Chair

Anna NyaradyAnna Nyarady is the President and Owner of Vanseco Management Limited in Vancouver. Vanseco provides business and financial planning services as well as corporate governance advisory services for both public and private companies. Ms. Nyarady is a certified Financial Planner as well as a Chartered Director from McMaster University. As well, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from Simon Fraser University. She is the Past Chair and trustee of the BC Sports Hall of Fame and Museum, a director of the Royal British Columbia Museum, a director of the Richmond Olympic Oval Corporation and a director of the BC Cancer Foundation.

George Puil
Vice Chair

George PuilGeorge Puil of Vancouver was a high school teacher for 35 years and a Vancouver city councillor for 28 years after having served on the Vancouver Parks Board for 12 years. He also chaired the Greater Vancouver Regional District for six years and was the founding chair of the Greater Vancouver Transportation Authority – TransLink.

He has served as chair of dozens of regional and national committees. He was named Transit Advocate of the Year by the Canadian Urban Transit Association (2002) and received the UBC Alumni Award of Distinction (2000). Mr. Puil also received The Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal. He holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education from the University of British Columbia.

Bruce Hryciuk

Bruce HryciukBruce is the senior partner of Hryciuk Gallinger, Certified General Accountants, a public practice located in Cranbrook, BC. He has been a member of the Certified General
Accountants Associations of British Columbia and Canada for 31 years taking on several leadership roles with those Associations. Bruce served as a Board member of CGA BC from 1984 to 2000, serving as President in 1997 as well as chairing various committees. He also served on the CGA Canada Board from 1995 to 2002, serving as Chairman in 2001 and chairing several national committees including the national education committee and international committee. Bruce served as technical advisor to the Confederation of Asia and Pacific Accountants from 2003 to 2005. Most recently Bruce has been a member of the Permanent Small Business Roundtable for the Province of BC from 2005 to 2008. Bruce received a fellowship designation from CGA Canada in 1996 and a life membership from CGA BC in 2001.


Janet E. Heino

Bruce HryciukMs. Heino is a business consultant with Heino & Associates who provide business and financial advisory services to the public and private sectors. Previously, she was a Manager and Consultant with Ernst & Young, Chartered Accountants. Within her community, she is involved with the Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Royal Colwood Golf Club, and the Victoria Women's Transition Society. Ms. Heino has her Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University and is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Business Evaluator.

Shawn McLaughlin

Shawn McLaughlinMr. McLaughlin is an associate at ReMax Centre City Realty in Prince George. Mr. McLaughlin is a former owner and operator of a Shell Canada station and was also employed at the Prince George Airport Authority. He is a member of the Prince George Celtic Club and a founding director of the BC Northern Cancer Clinic Society. Mr. McLaughlin is a professional member of the BC Northern Real Estate Association. He holds the equivalent Diploma in Hospitality/Tourism Management from Ryerson University in Toronto.


Doug Morneau

Doug Morneau
Doug Morneau is the founder and Chief Executive of Rhino Marketing Inc., which provides clients innovative solution-oriented direct marketing, database marketing, loyalty marketing and consultative services. In recent years, Mr. Morneau has acquired particular expertise in the emergent practice of e-Marketing providing client's enhanced levels of success using online media, pay per click advertising, assured email deliverability, search, web analytics, and other leading edge technologies

 

In addition to his position at Rhino Marketing, Mr. Morneau currently serves as Board member of Cross Roads Hospice, Coquitlam Alliance Church, BC Assessment Authority, and a member of the Direct Marketing Association Internet Marketing Technology Council.  In the past he has also been a Facilitator and Business Advisor at Douglas College, Director with his local Rotary Club, Public Relations for District 50/40 Rotary International, Advisor Alpha Canada, and director of the Chamber of Commerce.

Judy Rogers

Brian RomerJudy Rogers held the role of City Manager of the City of Vancouver from 1999 to 2008 - the first woman to be appointed to the position. Judy’s achievements include winning two United Nations public service awards for City programs in which she was instrumental in creating. The first award was for the Neighbourhood Integrated Service Teams, a unique project that brings City departments and outside agencies together to help residents solve difficult issues in their neighbourhood. The second UN award was given for the Vancouver Agreement, a landmark urban development agreement with the federal, provincial and city government that has been instrumental in the revitalization of the city’s historic Downtown Eastside.

It was also under Judy’s leadership that Vancouver won the right to host the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. She currently is Chair of the Board of 2010 Legacies Now, on the Board of Directors for the UBC Alumni Association, a member of the UBC President’s Strategic Advisory Council and past President of the Institute of Public Administrators of Canada. Judy is also a member of the International City Management Association and the Local Government Management Association for BC.

Judy holds a Masters in Public Administration and is the recipient of the Lieutenant Governor’s Medal for Excellence in Public Service in BC.

Brian Romer

Brian RomerBrian Romer is the former Vice President, British Columbia of Slough Estates Canada Limited. He was responsible for the planning, development, construction, marketing, leasing and management for a large office park in Burnaby. Prior to this position, he was President and CEO of Cumberland Realty Group Limited. Mr. Romer is past member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks and the British Canadian Chamber of Trade and Commerce.

Currently, Mr. Romer serves as a member of the Advisory Council for Harmony Arts Festival in West Vancouver and is a member of Friends of the Ferry Building Gallery board. In the past, Mr. Romer served as President and Honourary Director for the Vancouver Oral Centre for Deaf Children and is a former member of the Council of the Architectural Institute of BC. He is Past President and Honourary Director of ENDEAVOUR Society for the Benefit of the Arts, Sciences and Health. He holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Oregon.

Allen Tozer

Allen TozerAllen Tozer is president of Lexlaur Properties, a commercial and hospitality property management company. He is a coordinator for the Okanagan Wine Festivals' Society in Kelowna. Mr. Tozer is a member of the Board of Directors, of Tourism British Columbia and the Board of Governors of Okanagan College. Tozer is currently the Vice-President, Finance of the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association, of which he was president in 1998. He also served as president of its precursor - the Okanagan Similkameen Tourism Association from 1995 to 1998, after serving five years as a director.

Eldon Unger

Eldon UngerMr. Unger is a local real estate development consultant and businessman. He has been involved in senior housing developments and construction in the Fraser Valley area. He has also owned and operated five furniture stores in BC and has operated the Rocky Mountain Springs Water Company. Mr. Unger is a member of the Chilliwack Economic Partners Corporation, the City of Chilliwack Development and Process Advisory Committee, the Fraser Cheam Rotary Club and he sits as a board member on the Sto:lo Development Corporation. Mr. Unger is a former District of Chilliwack Councillor and is a past board member of Trinity Western University.
